Tip Sheets and How to Use Them

It’s absolutely necessary that you read the TIP SHEET before your recording session begins because we’ve compiled special instructions on this sheet that will help you do an accurate reading! When readers and directors do not follow these instructions, files must be re-recorded, wasting valuable volunteer time.

Instructions you will find on the TIP SHEET include:

When to read notes into the text

Whether or not to spell terminology

When to announce “bold” before bolded terms in the text

What reading order to approach a page with multiple items, such as margin notes, illustrations, boxes, etc…

** The TIP SHEET is a way for us to maintain continuity since previous readers’ will write down pronunciation of unusual names and other comments that have to be shared with future readers.
